Oh, the joy of the weekend!
Finally time to catch up on all those little things we never have time to do during la semaíne.

I’m always amazed about the variety of inexpensive, simple things one can do to preserve a French state-of-mind. Some are experimental—line drying my linens or using a basket when I visit the farmers market…Small touches in my home; a bunch of fresh lavender or a fragrant block of savon de Marseílle. Of course,  there is the food, which may be the easiest way to bring a bit of France into your life. It always makes me smile when I open my fridge and see that jar of corníchons or that tiny delicate pot of confiture de coings. Is it the exotic sonority of the names that makes me smile? The size of the corníchons?  The flavors? That certain Je ne saís quoí!

I then try to go about my favorite activities with a lightness that the French call joíe de vívre! Whether I choose to go to the flea market in search of fabulous finds or perhaps spend an afternoon in the park leisurely reading and buying fresh flowers on my way back before having l’aperítíf with friends.

Travel is not so much about where you go as it is about how you see the world…The angle with which one see things can easily transform any experience and with that state of mind, a simple twist can turn the Hudson   river into La Seíne!...
