Les Alizés

Brunschwig & Fils joined the Kravet inc. family in March 2011, and the design team quickly set to creating a new collection that reflected the bold, colorful, French-inspired style that is the Brunschwig signature. inspired by the past, and with an eye on quality and craftsmanship, the resulting collection reflects a modern interpretation on the concept of travel and of worlds converging, inspiring unique color combinations and fresh takes on centuries-old patterns.

The collection currently available in Brunschwig showrooms is called Les Alizes and is named for the fabled easterly trade winds found in the tropics. For centuries, these surface winds have propelled captains of merchant sailing ships across the world’s oceans, enabling the expansion of European empires and the establishment of trade routes to the Far East.

joie de vivre!
“joy of life/living”
(French) [zwa-d.-vivr]
French phrase often used in English to express a cheerful enjoyment of life; an exultation of spirit

The resulting convergence of Western and Eastern cultures has shaped this exclusive collection of vibrant prints, distinctive embroidered fabrics and trimmings, and coordinating weaves. A documentary French handprint based on an indian palampore complements exotic ikats and Turkish Ottoman Empire designs, all of which are knowingly culled from the extensive Brunschwig & Fils archive. Each of these unique patterns has been re-imagined in innovative interpretations and richly colored palettes.

The uniquely contemporary mix of design inspirations found in Les Alizés is especially relevant to today’s highly eclectic and deeply personal approach to decorating rooms. For more on this collection, visit your local Brunschwig showroom or http://www.brunschwig.com.
